Heater Sizes

When specifying heater sizes  the first thing to do is establish the power requirement for the room. If you  under power a room then the heater could be on continually, trying to get the room up to the required temperature.  A correctly powered room  should heat the room up to the required temperature as set on the thermostat and then switch off, continuing to heat the room from the stored heat in the clay core. An over powered room will simply heat the room up faster and then cut out faster.

So the power requirement of a room should always be  ROUNDED UP to the next heater size, never down. The power requirement calculation requires to factor in insulation levels as well as any heater is affected by how quickly a room leaks heat.

Power requirement is based on the volume of the room that is being heated and the heat loss  dependent on insulation. We have assumed a fairly average heat loss factor to enable you to work out what power of heater you need for your room. Conservatories require more heat per cubic metre due to more heat loss through the glass. If in doubt  please free to get in touch and ask
